My Hobbies

Reading

I am an adult who loves to read. I read just about anything although fantasy, paranormal, and crime novels tend to top my lists.  I bought a Kindle a few years back and upgraded through the Kindle Fire to my current reader, the Kindle Paperwhite.  I enjoy participating in various reading challenges which encourage me to read books in other genres that I would normally avoid.

Movies

We are DVD collectors.  That sounds so much better than DVD hoarders.  Current count is well over 1,000, and continuing to grow.  There is something satisfying about having a wide variety of movies to watch, although Netflix and Hulu make it easy without having to get out the physical copy.  At least this way, we are not completely dependent on the streaming services, although it is almost an obsession to collect more and more movies.

Writing

I list writing as a hobby but I don’t actually do any writing.  I collect story ideas though which I then try to play out in The Sims.  I enjoy the process of character creation and writing their back story.  Then I lose interest and move on to the next character.

Star Trek

Star Trek gets listed as a hobby although it is a fandom rather than an activity.  I was drawn into the Star Trek universe when I was young and it fascinated me in a way no other TV show or movie could.  As I am writing this, I realize that Harry Potter has the same pull on me that Star Trek has had all of these years.

Harry Potter

My favorite Harry Potter website is the Hogwarts Extreme RPG forums.
